Your Body Deserves Better Than ‘Just Do Kegels.’
Dr. Lesley Rivera, PT, DPT specializes in the pelvic health issues no one talks about — and resolves them in fewer visits than you'd expect.

Specialized Care
Conditions We Treat
Expert pelvic floor therapy for the issues that deserve more than a generic exercise sheet.
Pelvic Pain & Vaginismus
Pain during intimacy, tampon use, or daily activities isn't something you should just live with. We find the root cause and treat it — not just hand you a sheet of exercises.
Pregnancy & Birth Prep
Feel physically and emotionally prepared for labor and delivery. We work on positions, breathing, perineal prep, and pain management — building a plan with you, not for you.
Postpartum Recovery
Whether it's prolapse, urine leaking, diastasis recti, or just not feeling like yourself — your postpartum body deserves thorough, expert attention.
Incontinence & Urgency
Urine leaking, constant urgency, frequent urination — it's not "just part of aging." It's treatable, and most patients see improvement in just a few visits.
Endometriosis & Chronic Pain
Interstitial cystitis, endometriosis, pudendal neuralgia — when standard techniques don't work, we adapt. A treatment plan that responds to your body, not a textbook.
Low Back, TMJ & Tailbone
Your jaw, your back, and your pelvic floor are more connected than you think. We see the patterns other providers miss.
Meet Your Provider

Dr. Lesley Rivera, PT, DPT
I started Protea Physical Therapy because I saw too many patients — especially women — being told their pain was "normal" or being handed a Kegel sheet and sent on their way. That's not care. That's a checklist.
My approach starts with hands-on manual therapy — because feeling better fast creates hope. Then we build a plan together that responds to your body, not a textbook. You're a whole person, not just a diagnosis. I bring the clinical knowledge; you bring the lived experience in your body.
Every session is a full hour. Just the two of us. No aides, no handoffs, no revolving door. You get my full attention in a private treatment room with the space and equipment for everything from TMJ to yoga to Pilates reformer to jogging.
Why It Matters
Why Specialized Care Matters
You deserve more than generic advice and generic care. Here's why pelvic health demands a specialist.
"Other PTs dismissed me."
Many patients see 2-3 other physical therapists before finding a specialist. Generic PTs aren't trained for pelvic floor conditions — which means you've been doing exercises that were never going to work.
"Kegels aren't the whole answer."
Kegels are one tool — and for many pelvic floor conditions, they can actually make things worse. A hypertonic pelvic floor needs the opposite approach. A specialist knows the difference.
"20 minutes isn't enough."
Insurance-based PT gives you 20 minutes with the actual therapist, then hands you off to an aide. You deserve a full hour of focused, expert care — and you'll actually need fewer total visits because of it.
